How loud is your fuel pump?

I have a 90 325i and the in tank pump is starting to whine really loud. It will be quiet, then drive it a little and it starts to whine real loud, it will quiet down a bit then be totally silent, then loud again, loud enough that I can hear it sitting at a stop light. Anyone have this happen before your pump took a shit on you?

Mine is noticeably loud. I can hear it sitting still, and when sitting next to a car it, echoes off it.

Mine is pretty loud. You can clearly hear it from inside at idle.

It still works fine, but I expect it to die eventually.

Same deal here. My fuel pump is loud enough to hear at idle but it is a steady sound and never gets louder or quieter that I can tell. My loud exhaust helps me to not notice it so much anymore!

At some point I'll replace it, hopefully that point is before it fails. :)
