is this a fule line or a vacuum line?

I am trying to get my new-to-me e30 started, and there is some discrepancy over whether the car is getting fuel. There is a small-diameter hose that is coming from the top of something that looks like a fuel pressure regular, and it is going over to the intake. I think it is a vacuum line, another guy thinks it should be carrying fuel. There is no clamp on the line and it pulls off fairly easily, which tells me it's not carrying any fuel.

    Here is a pic:

Its vacuum, if there is fuel in there you have a bad fuel pressure regulator. Been there, replaced that!

Yeah, and that is a fuel pressure regulator. The fuel comes into the rail on the other end from the regulator. That vacuum line isn't going to keep you from getting fuel though. It is just going to not allow the proper pressures in the rail.

Get a Bentley if you don't already have one and start going through the checks for the fuel relay and main relay and pumps. It might require a pressure gauge to check the pump output.
