    Carburated M20?

I found a carb and intake manifold for an M20 and was wondering if this was a stock setup on earlier cars. Has anybody ran this? What are your thoughts? I am starting to get fed up with these FI issues and if I cant find a solution soon I may just pick it up.

Yes, earlier M20's were carbed. Running a carb is not a solution to FI issues.

It could be for me! I cant seem to get my car to run right. I just put a new head on along with $500 in other parts and now the thing wont rev past 2k. It was throwing a coolant temp sensor code so that was changed. The plug under the intake was corroded so it was cleaned and tightened up and still, no rev. The computer was throwing a coolant temp code still, so I pulled all the grounds and cleaned them up along with replacing one. I re-connected the battery and still, no rev. Now the CEL is telling me no fault codes in memory....1444. I have ordered a used DME to see if thats the problem but if that dont fix it, I am out of ideas.

Basically, the idea is that if you can't troubleshoot a FI system, you will not get a carbed M20 to run right.

I had enough trouble keeping 2 delortos tuned on my 8v gti so 3 DCOE's would be hell. I've had plenty of carbed VW's and they ran great, just asking for some opinions on BMW carbs........thats all.

I understand. Kind of halfway joking, as it was one of my original ideas before I've stubbornly decided to put ITB's on my stroker build. One thing about that M20 carburetor manifold, I believe it would have been from an early M20B20, so the intake ports would not match at all to your B25's without a lot of port work.

I am no stranger to port work, done plenty so that wouldnt bother me too much. Ive found a few threads that had mentioned that also. I have also heard there are adapter plates available to use holleys, and weber possibly made a direct replacment for that manifold.
