Ok I have a 1986 325e and I'm finishing ordering all my parts for my I head swap and wanted to know wich gasket set to buy?
325i? Also which timing belt kit? For an e or I?

Buy the 325i head gasket set. While there is no difference in the head gasket itself, the intake manifold and exhaust gaskets are different from the eta to the "i". The timing belt should be identical for all M20's.

OK anyone know the best/cheapest place to get these online?

Also are the water pumps and thermostats the same on i - e cars?

A couple things to ponder: best price or best quality? I recently went shopping for a head gasket set, as well as some misc items. Two sites came to the top of my list. AutoHausAZ and Elephant Motorsports. AutoHausAZ had the best price, but could not confirm the manufacturer of the set. Elephant offered specific brands, but at a slightly higher price. I chose to go with Elephant. FWIW, search for info on them on E30tech and you should be able to find information relating to a 10% discount.

Not to say there aren't better options or deals out there. YMMV
