    Fault Codes

OK>> not sure this is the right place for this. Sorry if it is wrong. I was finally able to get my check engine fault codes. the code is 1222.

1222 - Lambda control fault code is produced when Motronic system in Bosch control unit receives signal indicating that air/fuel mixture is either excessively rich or excessively lean for period of time loner then 10 seconds. Majority of the causes that affect drivability of the car can be responsible for DME flashing this error:
    • air leak
    • defective Air Flow Meter ( AFM)
    • bad engine temperature sensor
    • incorrect fuel pressure
    • problem with injector(s)
    • defective evaporation system
    • empty gas tank
    • issue with spark plugs
    • problem with valves
    • etc.

So with this in mind, I already did the spark plugs and set the valves last spring, I am going to do spark plug wires/cap/button.

Where is the engine temperature sensor?

How can I check the evaporation system?

How can I check the Air Flow Meter?

I don't think this is valves/gas tank/or fuel pressure. The car runs pretty good generally other than surging when it is cold and the noisy muffler.

    Thanks.

check for vacuum leaks, and re-check the condition of the plugs

Check for leaks by inspecting all the vacuum lines including the intake boot. The intake boot is a commonly replaced item. Also check the vacuum line running from the bottom of the throttle body to the check valve, that runs to the canister. Check the canister lines, FPR line, and crankcase vent hose. Those are the major ones. You could get a can of brake cleaner and spray the engine bay with the car running and if the motor changes rpms when you shoot a certain spot, check for leaks there. The engine temp sensor is the blue sensor on top of the thermostat housing, it should have 2 prongs. The brown plug is for the gauge, and it should have a two prong plug, but only one lead in the sensor.
