thermostat housings from other engines that will fit my M20?

Well, my coolant bleed screw broke off my thermostat housing tonight. It was rusty and seemed torqued wayyyy too tight by the previous owner.

The car is a 1988 325is. I am going to the junkyards tomorrow, and I need to know what other engines may have a thermostat that fits. From some searching on the parts diagrams, it looks like it has to be an M20, even the 325e will work. It also doesn't appear to matter if it was the older or newer cooling system (changeover in 1987). It does not look like anything from the 318 or 535 will work.

    Any suggestions?

you dont need the entire housing, just unbolt the three bolts like you are changing the thermostat and take the cap end. I think its rather cheap at bmw as well.

it doesnt matter if its an eta or not. All m20s the cap should be the same. e28 528e, e34 525i, e30s,

    will all work.

Yeah sorry, I mean the cap/cover, not the whole housing.

BTW, your radiator fit great :) It's the rest of the car that needs TLC.
