    Oil pan gasket replacement

Hey guys, i have figured out that my pan gasket is leaking at the front. I am going to replace it, and I have done a lot research and I just want to confirm the process. I know I need to lift the engine up, but I havent found a method that everyone considers safe and I dont have a hoist. I will be dropping out the steering rack and replacing it, so I dont have to worry about the removal of that. Do I have to take out the crossmember to get the pan out, or should just lifting the engine suffice? Finally, is there anything I should do while i am in there? I am considering putting in a windage tray. Does that just sandwich in between the block and pan gasket? Anything else I am missing? I know this is a lot and I'm sure its been discussed but I havent found a lot of information on r3v pertaining directly to this. Thanks

IIRC there is a decent DIY/How to in that forum section, check that out. I've been needing to do this too, kinda procrastinating.

I found that DIY and it looks pretty straight forward. I do have a couple questions still though.

-Is there anything like the oilpump nut that i need to do like on a 24v?
-What windage tray is the preferred best? I have seen steel ones and teflon ones, is the teflon worth it?
-Does the install process change with the use of a windage tray?
