    Won't start

I finally got my car running and drove it around for a few days. I replaced the battery and I was getting good voltage from the alternator.

Last night I was backing it out of the driveway and it died. Now I can't get it to start. It won't even turn over. All the lights and electrics work fine though.

my guess is it is your battery. Jump it and see. It is always the battery for me. Sometimes jumping wont even get it, put in a different battery.

Sorry I should have said, I tried jumping it. Also there is no clicking from the starter the only thing I hear is the fuel pump fire up.

Here's a silly one are the battery connections tight? What was wrong with it prior to the previous night?

I'd like to add something else. I noticed that sometimes when I try and start it the blower for the ventilation system will come on because I have it set to on. Other times it will not turn on and I can hear a humming noise from the fuel pump.

Details are too Vague, we could say a million things but we need more details beside the blower motor is working/not working and the fuel pump and master relay kicks in when you turn the key.

DVM Digital Volt meter the battery how many volts do you have are they tight. what was the last item you worked on in the past few days...

Power is there. No clicking could be your starter.

                I'll measure that tomorrow.

Should the fuel pump be running the whole time I have the key in the position that turns the lights on?

I'll try to find a starter but I'm really hoping its something else.

No it should come on for just a moment to ensure there's pressure and it hasn't dropped down due to an older FPR.

I wouldn't go looking for a starter to you have it diagnosed properly unless you want to throw a new starter at it?

Bang your starter with a hammer and see if it starts up.

Got it, the car has an aftermarket alarm system. It has no markings on it so I have no idea what brand it is but it had a loose wire hanging off of it. It looked like a ground so I tried to ground it out and no luck. Then I realized that it was actually two little wires in one wrap of insulation. I twisted them together and now it starts.

I'm an electronic engineer major but that doesn't mean I understand car alarms.

Thanks a lot for the help folks!

This is why I said to check with basics before tossing parts at it. Hacked in alarms suck! I took one out now the pw and fan and ac does not operate. Basically need to replace a whole wiring loom.

Due to a hack job. Glad it's running.

Its doing it again, I think it may be the main relay but I don't know how to test that. Something I've noticed is that the radio will work but the windows won't roll down and obviously it won't start.
