    Aluminum Engine Motor Mount Brackets

Noticed them on my touring today, searched couldnt find out much.

Any one know the story on them? My brother thought maybe low production from S. African cars?

Levent, the generic European parts book shows the mounts as 'ALUMINUM' p/n 564 and 565 for a 325i Touring. Interesting.

Seems like they would be. You wouldn't ever notice the difference though, it would come down to a few grams I'm guessing.

Ours are a safety design for us standards I imagine. These are on all EU 325i cars. Not a biggie. The reason why is there is no safety catch like on the steel counter parts.

Look for a gray market e30 323. Feds never touched those AFAIK and that's where I got mine. Couple lbs from memory lighter for both compared to the US legal steel arms.

From what I understand all EURo e30s with the M20 have them. I bought a set for a forum member last year through the dealer at like 28.00 a pop.

They are a good bit lighter than regular ones. It's probably 3 lbs or so difference between both sides.

I've still got two sets in my tool box, I could weigh them and compare them to steel so we have the hard facts if anyone wants me to. I've had them on two M20B23's and one M20B20; a 323i and 320i respectively.
