Hey guys just wondering about something since I have some parts that still havent sold yet off my 325ic. I am picking up a 86 325es around thanksgiving and since it has a slight oil leak, not enough for the level to drop noticeably between oil changes but enough to put spots on my driveway, so I want to do a headgasket on it and the other assoc. seals. My thing is , can I take the eta intake manifold off and replace it with the "i" intake manifold and swap the "e" cam out and install the "i" cam into the "e" head? I would then run the 325i wiring harnes and components on a 2.7 with a turnermotorsport chip and some ebay headers. Think it would be worthwhile for a reliable daily ? I was thinking about turbo and swapping the "i" head on it but I need something I can just jump in and drive, not tinker with all the time. Was thinking since im gunna be doing the headgasket anyways that it might be worth a look into for a little more pep in the motor. Not looking to something insanely fast but would those mods yield anything at all ? Again the only thing it would be costing me is time, I already have the parts, minus the assoc. seals of course.

There is a lot in there, but it should get you started.
Long and short- you can't just throw the "i" cam in there and go, btu it seems like you know that.
If you were going to go to that trouble, I'd at least swap the head.

the e and i cams are not interchangeable without machining the head the e cam has four bearing journals the i has six, you will want the i's dual valve springs too...Last edited by Adrian_Visser; 10-06-2009, 04:58 PM.
