I've done a search and have read of the different possibilities of what the cause/problem may be, but I wanted to post up a video clip to see if anyone could confirm the problem. One friend of mine thinks it's rod knock while the other thinks is the transmission.
I'll get a better video clip later on today. If you listen carefully, the noise I'm speaking up occurs the moments before I shift. I combined about 6 short clips into one.
This morning when the car fired up I heard it for an instant when the car started. When I'm accelerating, the rattling starts at 3K rpm and holds till I shift. When I'm cruising on the freeway, if i hold the gas to cruise at around 3K rpm it'll rattle..but if i accelerate a bit more it'll disappear...if I ease off the gas the sound will go away under 3K as well. I can usually find the "sweet" spot where it will constantly make that rattling noise.
I've always had this noise but it was not as noticeable b/c of the louder engine before I had the head swapped with a better condition head, camshaft, etc.. The sound does not go away when the clutch is disengaged (clutch in). I can rev it while in neutral and it will make that rattling noise albeit not as loud
Sorry for the poor sound. I can hear it clearly from the cabin but it doesnt pick up on the video as much.
If you have headphones I think you can hear it best at 1:13 and 1:23 of the clip.
