eta starting, odd electrical problem

I have an odd issue with an 85 325e. When cranking the car, the a/c blower motor will run and the guages in the cluster work. When the car fires up, and i let the key roll back to position 2, the guages and the blower stop running. The car also has the battery light on, and the alternator bushings are sagging bad. I plan on replacing the alternator, but does this problem sound like the ignition switch itself might have a problem too? SI board related? I pulled the board, and the batteries did have white crust in between the batteries and the terminals.

That would sound to me like a problem with the unloader relays or ignition switch.
