no tacho, no rev limiter and lack of torque

I have a 325E with 731 head and full motronic 1.3 conversion including manifold, loom and ecu, but have no tach, no rev limiter and it is not making the torque that it should (stock 323i goes past me on straight at a race track) any help would be appreciated

P.S. have tried different dash and ECU with no change, temp guage is working, economy guage does not, the 3 wires on the seperate plug next to ECU are connected

My first thought would be that the engine harness you used didn't have the three wire connector that routes the tach and econometer output signal and the DME Start input from the car to the DME. But you say that connector is present. And your not mentioning problems with starting or running the engine would imply that connector to be present and connected.

I'd say that the next thing to do would be to use an oscilloscope to check to see if the tach signal is present on the three wire connector.

When changing to the Motronic 1.3 system did you change out the AFM for one from a 325i/is? And have you verified that the WOT switch in the TPS works and provides the signal to the DME?
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
