    Fan wobblin' n squeakn'

So I pull up to the store to get some smokes' and hear a lil' squeak. "Ya hood open da wrong way bruddah" comes from the bum outside the store.

I've heard of a few cases where fans like to explode randomly. Time for a new fan or just tighten' it?

If it wobbles up and down, side to side then your water pump is probably bad, or will be if you keep driving on it.

If the fan is wobbling, either the fan clutch is bad or the water pump bearings are bad. Either can cause the fan to disintegrate, possibly taking out a coolant hose or the radiator. This is something that you fix immediately and is reason not to be driving until fixed.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

My water pump barring went out, it wobbled side to side, hit the shroud, destroying the blades on the fan then puncturing the radiator. Just replace it asap, replace your timing belt as well while your at it.

take i think a 24mm wrench and hammer and put it on the clutch fan bolt and tap the wrench on the end while turning the opposite way that the fan turns and it should come right off

As long as your e30 has a good tstat, you should be fine. I dont even have a fan, and sitting still mine takes forever to heat up to where its over heating. About the same as when the fan was on the car.

You could run some "redline water wetter" and more distilled water and less coolant, and that'd bring your temps down a bit if you had trouble keeping it cool.
