    compression test 89 325i

just did a compression test on the 300,000 km 89 325i and i dont think it looks good. Car runs great, not sure how to interpret the results or if the fix is worth it?

    cyl 6 165
    cyl 5 120
    cyl 4 158
    cyl 3 169
    cyl 2 158
    cyl 1 165

did a wet compression test on cyl # 5 and it went up to 135
So, whats up with the engine? Advice, suggestions please.

Well, you have some ring wear there for sure and that's why it came up a bit with the oil. The rings seal better with the oil in there.

You might have other issues in #5 too.

There's only one fix if it is worn rings and that's a rebuild, of course. You risk damaging the pistons, the bore, and possibly everything if a ring shatters, if you keep running it like that, but who knows, I might keep plugging along. Again, assuming it is the rings. There are some other possibilities.

Take a look at your sparkplug on cylinder #5. Report back whether it was dry/wet sooty/white/black etc.

        plug

it was dry, a little black, looked the same as the other plugs. this car has been sitting for a few months, not sure if that helps.
