WTF is this? (came in gasket set)

Ordered a Fel-Pro conversion gasket set for my turbo stroker build and I got some weird piece I haven't seen before. Anyone know what it is? There is a gasket included in the bag that matches it's profile, but only has openings for bolts. On to the pics....

I should add. There was also a layered steel headgasket in the box, for a 16V VW. WTF???

there's nothing like that on any m20 that I have seen.

not an m20 part. if they sent a vw headgasket, its not surprising they sent another wrong part. id check them all.

I think it's a fuckup, along with the random head gasket.

Funny thing is, the box was factory sealed.

Not quite sure where. I helped a guy with a bunch of car work on his and his g/f's car. He gets car parts dirt cheap, and I bartered for a ton of gaskets and some billy sports.

I just gave him all the fel-pro part numbers I wanted.

The thing that really gets me, is the box was factory taped, and everything that was supposed to be in there, was there, PLUS the VW headgasket and the mystery piece.
