    help!!! where the hell is my coolant going!!!!

    im sure there is another thread about this but i really dont have time to find it. i keep having to top off my coolant + there isnt any spotting on ground indicating where and if there is a leak. i gotta 325i 89' cabrio. just changed all belts and water pump, if any of that helps.... help!!!!!

    Pressure test the cooling system and see if there are any small leaks that are only present when the system is under pressure. If that comes up negative, you could be loosing coolant out the overflow tube from a bad cap or small head gasket leak that is over pressurizing the system. You can chalk the interior of the overflow tube to see if that is where the coolant is going.
    The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

      I think I sorta have this problem as well... i don't have to refill all the time but the coolant never reaches up to the "full" mark after drives... Coolant level always stays about 1/2" below it. It never drops below that though....

        Thats what mine does. I think its because they engineered it so well it doesnt need all that coolant so it just eats some until it is at its own nessisary level.

          Got the same problem here. But don't have the $$$ to fix it.

          Traced it to the Heater Core Valve.

            wow guys you have relieved my nervous ass for real.... my coolant sensor trips but doesnt run dry... i talked to a bmw tech and he said i have been improperly top offed coolant and it is burning off extra ill found out tommorrow and updtae..... thanks....

              kinda late but...... we found that the sensor is on a float system and coolant soaked up into it and was trowing lights..... i looked and t was half filled up and i though" oh shit" but turns out thats where it supposed to be... haha thanks
