From what I've learned the combo you have creates a pretty terrible compression ratio. Better compression ratio with some custom high-comp pistons would make a huge difference. I've seen a few used sets in our for sale section, or else you could get them new from someone like mahle. A cam is another good option. Since it's a track car you can probably run a big cam too. From Schrick most likely.

      Or, conversely, turbo.

Yeah forgot to mention.... No boost.... I like NA cars...

I wanted to do a cam but i was told not to bother with the low compresion i have... and if i would put a 284 or a 288 it would hit the valves????

Where can i get high compression pistons?
I saw the metric mechanics site but those are really expensive.....and require I rods...

the next step would be getting pistons/head that match.

edit- you can get pistons made for any bore, rods, crank, etc that you want. search around there are lots of places that can order them for you. google "m20 pistons". if thats what you want. you could just get some seta pistons.

well to keep the stock eta compression, Put the E head back on. Install the I cam and dual vavle springs. Or go the long way and high comp pistions. Just turbo the eng!!

Of the options you listed, only a cam will make any difference in performance.

As mentioned above, swapping in Supereta pistons to make the engine a true stroker would be helpful.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

hahaha youre just as smart about m20s as you are about chicks.

OP, seta motors use the later head casting like an "i", so their pistons match. an eta piston is flat and made for the earlier style heads. putting seta pistons would be my first move if someone gave me that motor. and you could perhaps benefit from a performance cam after that. also headers and good exhaust if you dont have it, i dont remember if you mentioned it.
