    clutch choices....

Well I have a bit of a problem. My car was originally a m20b27 and was swapped to a b25 years ago. The car will be getting turbo with in the next year and I have been looking into clutches.

So the issue is I don't know what flywheel was used, and can't know until I take the tranny down to do the clutch. Is there a difference between the bolt patterns of the flywheels between the two motors? Like will any m20 pressure plate bolt to any m20 flywheel. I do know that my motor does rev very fast and drops rpms fairly fast. Don't know if that helps.

    Any ideas or hints?

If you are going to turbo the car for more power, you want the single mass flywheel regardless of what is on there now. I know there is a difference, but don't remember if it is the pressure plate or clutch disk that is different.

With turbo power, I'd suggest considering a uprated clutch, say something along the lines of a ClutchMaster or Spec Stage 1 or better.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Well deff getting an upgraded clutch for sure, just didn't know what clutch to get.

I guess I'll just have to wait till I drop the trans...

Now to find a single mass

      thanks

Check out VAC motorsports. They have various different clutch/flywheel combination packages of varing quality and price.

Here is a link to the clutch/flywheel section:

btw: as far as I know the are the same aren't they?? Nonetheless, if you get one of these kits, you will have more then enough hold. And you wont have to worry about not having a matching flywheel and pressure plate.

thanks for the link, though 800 is a little out of my price range. lol

i'll stick to stock flywheel and just get a new clutch. i'll just have to wait till i take it apart.

I just put a Spec Stage 2 in mine mated to a lightened single-mass flywheel. It certainly engages more positively than the stock did. Not grabby, just good. I like it.

Some guys on here are running the Sachs HD pressure plate with the stock friction disc. Stock-like engagement with added clamping force is the idea.
