MAF in m20 525i question

Is there an easy MAF replacement for the stock AFM? I don't suppose an m50 MAF can simply be plugged in place? :P

Can someone describe the process of replacing m20 AFM with an m50 MAF?

Unless you are replacing the stock DME with a standalone or going to a custom tune, I question the usefulness of this mod. As I've been told, the AFM maxes out around 4k under WOT (vane completely open) and the engine runs open loop from there to the redline. Even though an MAF can provide data throughout the rpm band, the DME won't use that data above 4k. And the intake and AFM aren't the limiting factor in mass flow through the engine, the head is the limiting factor.

The only benefit I can see to this would with the stock DME would be better transient throttle response below 4k.

I have a miller maf / war chip setup and like it a lot not cheap at $600 but the chip will come in handy when I want to get it pro tuned.
I think the maf kit has a pre tuned perfomance chip but Can not be rewriten that only around $350

I agree that the intake isn't going to make a big difference since there are other parts that limit the flow. It seems like with the m20 you have to slowly chip away at it to make power without a turbo.
