speed position sensor test

1990 325is

bentley says to disconnect the speed position sensor and the connector as well in order to see 2 wires.

where are these wires? does big metal end on the sensor side pop off?

i tried checking resistance on the connector side and there are 3 ports.

The engine starts then dies a second later.

Check the resistance at the connector. One of the thee pins is the shield and the other two are rto the CPS. The shield to either of the signal pins should be open circuit and between the two signal pins you should see 500-560 ohms.
