    check engine light?"

    Ok, im confused apparently our cars have 2 check engine lights? ONly one of mine lights up. Its the one at the bottom that says check engine. Is the other one supposed to light up? ive never even seen it light up?

    Download the code and see what it gives u. There is a diagnostic port. From there you can troubleshoot...

      where is the diagnostic port? And Whats the light in the center of the cluster? Is mine supposed to work?

          87 325is. My friends car has a light that just says Check right in the middle light up. Mine never comes on. But the one at the very bottom on the left side that says Check engine comes on sometimes

            The check in the middle of the cluster is for you to check the overhead check panel. it wants you to look at it and press the check button cause one or more of the lights are on.

                yup, early models did not have a check engine light. the 'check' or trangle hazard light in the center is not the check engine light like many think

                im retrofitting one to my 24V swapped car in this post:

                    I'm pretty sure you can't do the stomp test to an 87.

                        does the 'check engine' light light up when you put the key to run? if so then yes, if no, then either you dont have a check engine light, in which case the stomp test will never work, or the bulb is dead, which is a 50 cent repair
