Loud noise at 2000rpm (only when warm)

I have been trying to figure this out for a while but I need some help.

I have started to notice that the car makes a very loud noise starting around 2000rpm. It sounds like a loud metallic buzzing from the engine. Any gear or neutral or speed. I have only noticed this when the car is warmed up.

I only started noticing this when I started parking in a parking garage again. I normally have the radio up a bit and only turn it down in the garage to hear the exhaust note, which is when i noticed it. The car doesn't hesitate at all and runs like a champ.

My only recent updates are AKG "solid" motor mounts and 17.5 injectors.

I checked the motor mount heat shield which is NOT touching the exhaust pipe, it really sounds like something with the engine. I also recently had the alternator out and the bearing seems to be perfect with no noise or play.

What should I be looking for here? What is happening at 2000rpm to start this noise that isn't there below that rpm? It could just be the motor mounts making the car much louder but it only seems to happen when it is warmed up which leads me to believe it is something else.

    Thanks for the help!

I find this kind of funny haha. You just put in SOLID motor mounts and you are wondering what the noise is? Swap the motor mounts back to stock ones and see if the sound "goes away".

the only variable here is the swapping of the motor mounts, to solid motor mounts. i think peavey has a point.

So why does it only happen when the car is warm? That is my main question is what is changing with the car where it doesn't make the noise at all when cold.

Like I said, try swapping the motor mounts and see if you hear it then. It could be anything.

My mounts were pretty much shear'd in half, they were thrown out. I understand that everything gets a ton louder and I hear a lot more with solid mounts.

Does the clutch fan only kick in when the car is hot or does it always run? Does it stay on at idle or does it take engine speed to kick it in? That is honestly my only guess at the moment but it seems that the fan should be on at idle so it's doubtful.

Clutch fan locks up as the heat rises. It will spin with the engine at whatever speed the engine is when it gets hot. Have someone rev the motor to 2k rpm and stand over the engine bay. Stick a screwdriver on various parts of the engine and stick your ear on the end of it. If you can hear the noisy part through the screwdriver, you'll find it in one spot. The screwdriver acts as a stethoscope.
