    pulse sensor resistance

Could someone post the resistance between the yellow (terminal 1) and black (terminal 2) of their running 325i M20 pulse sensor. The Bentley says 540 ohm. Mine tested at 38.4 Kohm or 38400 ohm. Before I start replacing components that are out of spec in hopes of getting it running again I would like to know what an actual sensor's resistance is.
Car was running fine till a couple of days ago when it would not start. Cranks with no spark. Checked fuel system per Bentley manual with no problems. The moved on to ignition system trouble shooting and this is where I am. All other ignition parts check out ok.

480-560 ohms depending on whether there is ferrous metal in close proximity to the end of the sensor.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
