M20 piston oil ring installation (3pc)

I have Goetze piston rings for an M20 and I am confused on the oil ring expander's (or waffle ring's) diameter. It seems to be too big resulting in no end gap. I have not had to file down any of the other compression or scraper rings as they were set correctly at .4mm (end gap) from the factory box.... Does anyone have a write up and/or pictures of any three piece oil ring installed on a piston? Thanks

Bump, I have the same question. The Goetze rings that came with my set is a 3 pc. oil ring, nothing like the stock that came off of it. The illustrated directions are pretty much worthless, ive tried following them 2 or 3 times and it just doesnt look right. Can someone confirm please?

All three rings came out of the "1" pack for the oil ring and are meant to go together somehow. The rings in this picture are much more slender than top two rings (2 and 3, not pictured):

The skinny ones go above and below the fat one. Mind the gaps.

So im making an oil scraper sandwich, awesome. The picture definitely led me to believe that the scraper ring went on top. Thank you very much.
