    ignition troubles

Calling all gurus: I'm running into starting problems with my '87is. I ran through all of my connections, I have fuel pressure, injector power, cps reference, and continuity from the DME to the coil negative, but I'm only getting 12 volts out of the coil tower. I've tried 3 different coils that I had lying around, and same problem each time. Has anyone else run into anything like this before?

Any tips would be a great help!

If you have 12v at the coil positive and continuity from the DME to coil negative the next check would be to see if the DME is taking the coil negative to ground when cranking over the engine. About the only way of examining that is to use an ocilloscope. If the DME isn't grounding the coil the cause will be:

    Bad CPS
    No power to the DME
    Bad DME
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

We swapped the CPS out and changed the DME and it runs! Thanks for all your help JLevie.
