So I just returned from vacation to find my cars auto transmission is slipping while in gear, and then later will not even shift into gear.
Diagnosis: I topped up the tranny fluid with some lucas transmission oil, and checked the selector rod.
Result: The car started to run again in gear, and shifted fine. So i took it for a drive and it started to slip out again after about 20mins. I topped it up again with a quart of some regular ATF and it worked fine, except it was shifting funny. I get up this morning, and put it in reverse to back out and no dice. Wouldnt shift into gear. No noticeable thunk into gear. So i put more lucas tranny fiix into it and it will get into gear and roll around my townhome complex.
Conclusion: Is my tranny on the brink of being done? Is it time for a 5 speed swap? That plan was imminent as soon as i raised the funds.
Why does it seem like im losing tranny fluid? there are no drips under the car...and no funny smells?
Thanks, and sorry for the profanity, but what else can i say about a touring with an automatic...tits on a bull useless
