b27 Start Revs High Then Dies (Searhced but no find)

As the title says. I can start the car. it immediatley goes to about 2500 or 3k and revs for like 2 seconds and then dies. I can't feather the gas pedel because when I put my foot on it it dies instantly. I've had a smoke test done to the car and the only thing I haven't checked with vacuum is the intake boot. any ideas? the car is so close to being done

Last time I had this on my 318i, it was a dirty ICV.

My b27 did the exact same thing with the AFM disconnected (which happens to be connected to the intake boot). I was lucky enough to where my problem was that I had forgotten to plug it in after replacing the boot. Might be worth checking to see if yours is working properly.

Dude. Buy a Bentley, spend some time learning how your car works and be done with it.

Even if you follow the advice here, it's only from people who don't have the entire story or ability to test other things that you do. Maybe it's the AFM, maybe it's the wiring to the AFM, maybe that data port on your DME is dead, maybe it has nothing to do with the AFM at all, maybe it's a bad ground....we're all just guessing. With a Bentley manual and a $3 multi tester from Harbor Freight, you can figure out exactly what's wrong with your car. In the end, using the manual will be much easier (and less frustrating) than typing bump every 12 hours or so.
