    Car randomly dies?

 Bumming out here, cars been giving me a lot of problems.... Today on my way into work I was cruising doing about 40mph and the car just quit, rpms plummeted and wouldn't start back up.... Pulled over to get it sorted out. The engine cranked, but would not start.I let it sit for about 5-10 and the car finally started. I drove away, the car felt as it normally does just a little more sluggish when I get off the accelerator. Leaving work the car started fine but yet again about the opposite distance, the car stalled out again, and I did the same rubbish, letting the car sit for about 5-10, and it started back up.

Car has new plugs/wires cap/rotor and a few other things such as water pump timing belt thermostat from the timing belt change

I think its fuel related but I'm not sure that would leads me to this thread....

failed to mention I do have plans to replace all my vacuum lines (if anyone can help me find a kit that would be great) and I recently cleaned the ICV

Car is a 87' 325 2.7 its got a shit ton of miles 220ish... odom stopped at 189

When you say "rpms plummeted" do you mean the tach drove towards zero faster than if would based on the deceleration of the car? If that's the case I'd suspect the main relay or engine timing reference sensors. If the car just lost power and the drop in the tach was appropriate for the rate of decrease in speed, a fuel problem becomes likely.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

sounds like a going bad CPS to me, those are temperature sensitive and would cause the engine to die out of the blue.

        fits perfectly.

when I say the car plummeted I ment that it just died, radio stayed on as well as my lights but the engine died..... I'm going to buy the relay tonight

also there is a sensor on my air box with the numbers 280101001 from Bosch I can freely pull the connector out of the sensor while the car is running with out any reaction as well as the sensor next to my ICV that goes into the back of the intake I don't feel I should be able to take these connectors out of the sensors without causing more issues

check your CPS first, if thats ok - then check other things.

did your car throw a CEL?

No CEL after stalling, I ordered the relays, and the vacuum lines as well as a new ignition coil. If that's not the solution then I'll order the CPS, but about the other sensors should I look into a module?

tough call -- it may just be one pesky sensor doing all the baddies but I think the things you have ordered will tell you more about exactly what to do next.

I had the same issue with my car about a year ago. I'd be driving on the highway and all of the sudden it would just cut out on me at 70 MPH. No blip or stall or anything. It just died. Ended up being the main relay. While you're at it, you might as well replace the other 2 relays there as well. They're most likely over 20 yrs old.

That happened to me this morning, just driving down the road.. the low fuel light had been on for a while so when it died i figured i just ran out of gas, so i rolled into the gas station in neutral luckily i had the momentum.. got it towed to my step brothers shop, he said fuel pump is bad. $300 later i wish i wouldn't have run it so close to empty so much...

I'm going to wait to get the CPS as of right now, once the other things show me that they are not the issue then I will order a new CPS, could I have a bad module, that would be causing the other 2 sensors not to work
