partial throttle, runs great - open throttle weird noises and power loss

I just picked up my 89 iC parts car for $500 and I would like to figure out whats up with it before I yank the motor and sell it.

when I push the pedal harder, it sounds like it is miss firing, exhaust gets loud, revs drop slowly and I have power loss.

car starts up and idles just fine, partial throttle just fine.

car also has a CEL after it starts miss firing - but not before.

What fault code in stored in the DME?
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I think the PO said it was the lambda code but he replaced the o2

A lambda code doesn't necessarily mean that the O2 sensor is bad. Anything the upsets, or appears to upset, the A/F ration causes that code. So intake leaks, a fuel delivery problem, misfires, bad AFM, etc can also cause that code.

I see.. I wonder whats the most likely culprit, the boot is brand new, AFM, I have no idea - the motor is a TX motor with 109K on it behind an automatic which is now a '3-speed' lol
