    WTB 19# Injector & Questions

What is the difference between the Design III and Design II 19# injectors? A quick search indicates that the III's use a slimmer plastic body, and the II’s use a wider metal body, however both have 4 pintle holes. Is this to minimize heat transfer to the fuel, or just a switch in design? Regardless the question is if they are both compatible with the M20B25? Are Design III’s also known as EV-6, while Design II’s are known as EV-1? Or am I all out of whack on this?

I’m also seeing some discrepancy in descriptions such as the Design II’s only have 1 pintle hole. I’m hoping you guys can clear this up for me. And if any of you have a set in good working order for sale let me know. There are a few on eBay for around $50 shipped, here is an example of a set I would purchase: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT

Also incase I need to where can I find a rebuild kit for o-rings/caps should I need it?

well, I was hoping someone else would chime in for you since I am not an expert on these, but the newer style are designed to give better fuel atomization, better power, mpg, with less fuel.

the newer type fit just fine, I used to run a set of 15lb gen III injectors and they did indeed work well.

for all intents and purposes, they are the same for our cars, just get whichever set is cheaper... also, unless you have headers, a bigger throttle body, M30AFM mod, etc. I would not get 19lb injectors. it will run fine but you will get slightly worse mpg due to the DMU not being able to map quite right since its used to 13.5lb injectors.

I’m still reading about it to figure out if its worth it. But for $50 to try I don’t see it being an issue. The head has a 284/272 cam, and the injectors are part of MAF/tuned chip that I will be installing. And for fuel consumption, this is a canyon carver, auto-x/track car, so I have no concern with that.

then by all means -- that set looks pretty cheap.

You want the design IIIs, they are the newest version with the best pattern and the quietest operation.

            I just installed a set

I have a set ready to install into my IS, I'm assuming I should pick up a MarkD 19lber chip? Anyone here running a Full EMS, have any advice for starting out ?

they are better in every way except the fact they are a lot more expensive and they are not really any better for the select crowd that uses them for track/weekend cars only and don't care about fuel atomization since that really helps consumption more than power in this engine.

I would pick up a chip thats is optomized for the bigger injectors but you can certainly run the 19's on the 173.

They are not that much more, about $20 bucks more for a re-manufactured set of 8 ($70 plus shipping all over eBay). I also do not necessarily agree with the fuel consumption part in your statement. Plenty of people report getting equally or higher mpg on the 19# injectors.

higher actual MPG or higher read MPG on the trip?

if its only $20 more, go for the new generation ones. :)

I'm about to buy a set of the Design III 19lb injectors for my S50. I've got S52 21.5's in there and it's too much.

Sorry, I know this is the M20 forum. :)

Yeah kick rocks. Where are you getting them and for how much? I'll probably get the Design III from the store on eBay that sells them reconditioned for about $70 shipped (for 8). Or I just might get the Design II's for $50 shipped.
