i did an engine swap on my 325is. i removed the tranny so i could lighten the flywheel and replace the clutch. I have never done anything like this and i want to know do i need a clutch alignment tool. Is there any other things i should be aware about/look out for when i put the tranny back together and drop the m20 back in. thanks

Yes, you will need a clutch alignment tool. If the clutch on the new engine has 100k or more on it, it would make sense to replace the clutch, main seal, pilot bearing, and throwout bearing before mating the engine and transmission. If there's significant mileage on the transmission I'd replace all the seals before installation. The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

yea i did the same think as you. its pretty easy. if its your first time expect it to take bout 8 hours. just disconnect everything. i did in this order..radiator. pwr steering ac. cables to throttle body. wire harness. exhaust. the exhaust is a huge bitch. the bolts will prob be rust as shit. if its auto tranny its easier to remove. the manual, u must remove a nut and disconnect the back up sensor from the tranny. sorr if this is generic but i would type 10 pages if i told u everything i did. check out my pics album they might help you.
