not smooth acceleration

as the title state while im accelerating the car kinda surges, feels like a row boat, it also does it when im just crusing under a light load.
when i put in the clutch it rolls fine so i know my brakes are not dragging but i cannot figure it out. i just put a full new exhuast that is all stock minus the muffler, thats the only thing that i have changed but i dont think it started after that i cant rememer.
any ideas?

probably ignition related. Check for fouled spark plugs and check your cap and rotor. If there are any build ups on the contacts on the cap OR rotor, clean with emery cloth and reinstall. If that doesnt fix it then you may have a faulty AFM. change it out with a known good one.

That could be a bad or sticky AFM.

there was no change, although i noticed that it only does it once the temp needle hits the first line. i have also noticed that the temp guage will often vibrate or stick at 0 then flick up to the temp it acually is. could i have a bad temp switch? also when the car warms up it idles at like 1100 when it normally idles at about 800
