ETA revving...yes i searched.... still dunno

ok here's the question. How do i REMOVE that pesky fuel cut entirely from my eta.

I got an ebay chip, and it revs to 5500, but after 4500 EVERY single time, it lags....i physically feel myself fall forward in my seat as i hit 4500, and it still revs out to 5500.

    How do i fix this?

Mark d chip?, jim c chip?, dinan chip?, different ecu, different tps, different distributer. I can never get a clear answer on the most effective way to fix this issue.

NO, i don't want to do an "i" head swap. NO, i would rather not do megasquirt. I don't mind keeping the eta's 5500rpms, I just want it to actually rev all the way there, not half way dangit!!!!!!!!!!!

PLease if you KNOW how to fix this. Do tell, i think every eta owner would like to know.

I don't have a lot of experience with ETA engines, but I suspect that the power roll off is due to the flow characteristics of the head, intake and cam. The fix would be to change to the I head, intake, AFM, DME, etc. In other words turn it into a budget stroker.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

i believe it is too exact to be a cam/intake issue. It's electronic i believe. exactly 4500rpms EVERY time. i can feel the cam pull form about 3000 to 4500, then it falls off BADLY. Am i correct in thinking i cant simply swap a 173 ecu?

but i think that would be foolish anyhow......the 173 is for the "i" characteristic engine...........I'd like to simply remove this drop off (i'm fairly certain its electronic) from the electronics of my eta. ANY way to do this, smooth power band from 0-5500 rpms?

you arent going to be able to do it. part of that is from valve lift IIRC. It was never designed to rev that high so you arent going to be able to do much to fix that power loss without major tooling.

on a stock eta? no problems lagging at 4500 whatsoever? I'm seriously thinking that the eb(g)ay chip is only to raise the rev limiter and the fuel curve, but not cancel the stock fuel cut........

ok, so i noticed something....STRANGE.....it may be correlated, or maybe not related at all. I filled it up with premium and i noticed that the "oilservice" light was on. THen i drove it and it pulled HARD straight though in first and second, then entering third, the ABS light came on and the lag at 4500 hit dead on. with the ABS light on, every subsequent gear, lagged at 4500. if i let off the gas and "re-press" it, the throttle response is good for the next 700 or so rpm's. ANY input...?

Yes, you have an ETA with an e-gay chip. Upgrade to a reputable chip. I have a buddy with a Dinan chip iin his ETA and it pulls smooth all the way to 5500, the problem is likely that cheap ass chip.

You couldn't replace the 2-row 027 with the 3-row 173 anyway, eta and "i" DMEs are not interchangeable.

so I'm In need of a good chip then. Mark d will fix this you say? It really feels like a computer fuel cut to be honest. It's just to perfectly spot on to be mechanical..... I think...
