    Quick Question

I've only had my car for a short while, but discovered something the other day that was slightly alarming, but not a big deal.

The car starts without depressing the clutch.

Did older BMWs come with clutch saftey switches on the manuals, or did this car used to be an autotragic?

Both of mine have done this. I always thought it was convenient.

I also always thought it was the German way of saying "You should know better than to have it in gear."
Me: "I can't wait to redline my car!"
Mark: "Didn't you just break a rocker arm?"
Me: "Yeah, I don't think I've learned my lesson."
    Mark: "You never will."

Never even thought about it. Mine always starts w/o depressing the clutch. Don't know when they started putting the safety switch in.

I kind of feel the same way.

I want to say they didn't add the clutch safety until the mid 90's or so.
