    Another valve tick thread.

Alright guys, just want to make sure I look for everything I should when I dig into it.

I just picked up a 89 325i with 200,000 miles. The PO stated the timing belt went so the whole head was replaced. Everything was working great when I picked it up, the thing ripped. It had minor valve tick, but nothing too bad. Then I changed the oil to Kendall 20w50 per the manual, and put 93 in compared to the PO putting in 87.

I was out driving today, probably 20 miles after the oil change and all of a sudden under acceleration the tone of the exhaust changed, the valve tick got louder and the car was down on power. I then drove it to work because I needed to. The motor was still really smooth, just down on power, loud tick and burned gas like a mother.

Sounds like the valves need to be adjusted yeah? anything else I should specifically check?

    Thanks guys,

It wouldn't run smooth if a rocker busted.
Me: "I can't wait to redline my car!"
Mark: "Didn't you just break a rocker arm?"
Me: "Yeah, I don't think I've learned my lesson."
        Mark: "You never will."
