    m20b20 Sump

    hey,

I asked my younger brother to put the 320i up on stands.
He used the bottem on the motor as the jack point and as a
result the sump has got a hole in.

The most cost affective way i can think to fix the sump is by pulling the part off and taking it to a welder. What do you think?

When it comes to removing the sump, are there any tricks I should know?
Is there any other jobs I should do while I'm down there?
When it come to removing the sump, Will I need to pull the motor to gain access to all the sump

As for the gasket. Can I use a 2.5L gasket or does it have to be a
a specific 2L sump gasket. Is there any difference in sumps between the range.

The best solution would be to replace the sump. The same part is used on all M20 engines, so it doesn't have to come from a 320.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
