Crank won't fully turn

After replacing the waterpump, i tried starting the car. it started to crank then stops. Now it won't turn at all...actually, it will turn over by the using a large nut on the crankshaft pulley and it only turns a little bit. It stops in the same position each time when going in different directions.

I thought it was a washer that i dropped into the timing belt area but i took that out and it still does it.

What could be the problem?

Given the recent work, I'd suspect that the cam timing is wrong and a valve and piston are meeting.

Did you remove or change the timing belt?

as the 2 previous guys said.. check the timing..

a tip.. everytime you do anything with the cambelt check that the engine goes a full cycle with a rench..

i believe that you guys are right...the washer most likely caused the belt to jump/skip a few teeth. What is the likely hood of that causing damage to the head?

The possibility exists, but since the engine hasn't run there's a chance that the valves are okay. Re-time the cam and see how it runs.

I took the valve cover off and found 1 broken rocker arm. I've taken the timing belt off, turned the cam a few degrees, but the crank still gets stuck at the same spot. Could a damaged valve be causing the crank to fully turning?

With the timing belt off, the engine won't turn through a full revolution as some of the valves will be open. The easiest way to fix the broken rocker and the cam timing issue is to pull the head.
