New problem....because im retarded please help!

So i changed my oil yesterday. When I started it it had a loppy idle and didnt sound good. At idle it would jump from 500 to 800 rpms. I hit the gas and began driving and it smoothed out. Drove down the highway for 120 miles and my car began bucking and misfiring around 3500-4000 rpms and only under cam load. I pull over only to find that I left my oil cap off and that oil had sprayed everywhere. I replaced the oil cap and topped up the oil level. The car still does it, and now even around 2800 rpm.

I am giving the car a new oil change and filter today. What else could be the problem. There is no oil pooled up in the spark plug holes. But the ignition wires are covered in oil. Maybe they are shorting out??

Any help you guys can give me would be great. The car idles smooth most of the time but does sound loppy at idle sitting at a light.

    thanks guys

I could be a vacuum leak but how would the oil affect that? Also with a vacuum leak wouldnt I feel it through all rpm rnges?

        Thanks for the quick response!

ok so my distributor is dry, I also started the car and pulled each ignition wire off the plug one by one. the car ran worse when I pulled them off. So that would mean I can check off my distributor and the cables right?

Oil on the wires is a likely suspect. Remove the loom from the car, disassemble it, clean it with mineral spirits and then detergent and throughly dry it. Also pull the plugs and clean them of any oil. Reassemble and see if you still have the problem. Or, since it probably the original wire set, replace with new.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
