    Annoying Hesitation...

    Car info:
    85 325E

    Stuff done:
all of the coolant sensors except the 100$ one...
    ICV
    valve adjustment
    timing belt
    spark plugs
    spark plug wires
    cap & rotor
    Sea foamed

Soooo i get this annoying hesitation when i begin to accelerate... the car goes but at the same time it seems like its being held back or something... this will happen till i gain speed in usually 2nd gear, then i feel like i get the power back... buttttt this hesitation doesn't happen when i slip the clutch a bit...

At the same time when i start the car when its super cold... it kicks and bog's like a mofo till a little hot... then drives like the problems above...

    Could it be my AFM???

    -thanks

That sounds like it could be intake leaks.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

There are several places that can leak that you won't find with carb cleaner. Find a shop that can run a smoke test on the intake.

IF its running crappy when cold, and better when warmed up, its likely your coolant temp sensor. Like 11 bucks from Pelican. While your at it, replace the coolant temp switch, another 7 bucks. The DME runs off reading from this sensor until the car is warmed up, then it switches to the O2 sensor.
Both of these sensors are right around the thermostat area.

New Valvecover gasket as well? How's the hoseclamp that secures the hose on it?

How are your grounds? This may sound hokey, but have you cleaned where the ECU bolts up? I just cleaned that area and my e is running tons better.

Over heating or staying cold? I ghetto check mine with a confectioner's thermometer in the coolant tank.

Running tons better as in not so sluggish. Still has the eta flat spot at 2000rpm.

It takes for ever to heat up then it doesn't stay at 12'oclock.. maybe a little bit cooler..

does it almost feel like a fuel cut? try unplugging the o2 sensor to keep it out of closed loop. if it runs fine even once it warms up, your o2 sensor is probably bad. a universal 3 wire o2 sensor is like around $40 shipped from thepartsbin.com, but you'll have to splice it into the oem harness. i haven't been able to find an oem fit o2 sensor for less than $130. i did have an intake leak that was part of my problem (in the bottom of the intake hose after the maf), but my car has been running like you describe since i bought it six months ago. i only did this test yesterday. runs smooth as silk now, ordering a sensor tomorrow.

Just like turbo zombie said, try unplugging the 02 sensor and see if it fixes your problem. My car was doing the exact same thing until i unplugged the o2 sensor and drove around.
