    Reverse lights out.. Switch??

Took the car to get a saftey inspect and failed for the reverse lights being out. BMW wants $30 for the part which isnt bad but i cant get a straight answer on where the switch is located.

Front, back, top, or bottom of the trans? '84 325e

The pair of wires that goes through the shift boot through the floor...the rubber boot, that actually seals the floor.

I had the same problem with mine. Somehow the wires had gotten tangled on the driveshaft, and got ripped out. Just ran some new wires to the plug, done.
