    Camshaft removal

One of my rocker arms (#4) are broken and I've pulled the head in order to replace it. However, the Bentley didn't provide any instructions on removing the camshaft (camshaft sprocket) unless I missed something. The entire camshaft turns when I attempt to remove the single torx bolt so I know I need to secure it in some way in order to remove it. Did a google search and found discussions on the camshaft breaking during removal (was on a E36 however). I'd like to avoid this problem on my E30 (90 325is) so I'm seeking the wisdom of those that have done this before.

How do I remove the camshaft so that I can replace the broken rocker arm?

    Thanks in advance.

Pretty sure you are to remove the camshaft sprocket while the head is attatched. "Use a screwdriver propped up against the cylinder head to gently hold the sprocket in place while you remove the Torx bolt." Has a torque of 65ftlbs. Might be worth a trip to a machine shop.

An impact wrench will get the bolt out. Or you can use a strap wrench to hold the cam sprocket.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Thanks. I have an impact wrench so I'll give that a shot. Just didn't want to chance breaking anything. Thanks.
