Trouble starting when ambient temp is warm

I have an 87 325e that has a difficult time starting when the ambient temp is high. Living in SE Texas, this is pretty common now. On cool mornings, as long as the garage is cool, it starts right up. And if the engine is warmed up, it starts right up. The only problem seems to be when the engine is cold and the ambient is warm, or it has been sitting in the sun for a while.

Does anybody have any thoughts on this?

    Thanks,

    Jim

My first suspicions would be intake leaks, followed by a problem with the time-temperature switch or cold start valve.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
