Moving m20 engine and front supension to '84 318i

I'm putting the engine and entire front suspension from an '87 convertible 325i into my 1984 318i. The m20 engine needs to be rebuilt. Would it be easier to take the m20 out of the 325 through the top or somehow drop the entire thing from the bottom? I don't have access to a 2 post lift, but I do have an engine hoist (cherry picker)

The engine (and transmission) comes out from the top pretty easy if you have a hoist and engine load leveler. With a lift, I'd drop it out the bottom.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Thanks, I think I'll pull it from the top and move the suspension over after I rebuild the engine
