    weird noises...

So, i did a m20b25 swap into my 86 325es and now when its running the engine makes a whining sound. The sound seems to be coming from the timing belt or water pump. And now after driving 11 miles, there is a squeak too.

The car also has a little weird idle. It runs the same whether the ICV is connected or not.

I do have urethane mounts as well...

    here are 2 videos...

When you did the swap did you install a new timing belt, tensioner and water pump? In not those should be immediate action items.

Remove the one belt at a time and fire it up. If the whine is absent, the rotating accessory driven by that belt is the cause. If the whine isn't affected by any of the belts, the timing belt tensioner is the likely culprit. Don't run the engine long with the alternator belt off as the water pump will be in-op. If you start with a cold engine, you can run it for 30 seconds to a minute without harm with no water pump.

The other option would be to use an automotive stethoscope to pinpoint the source of the noise.

I think i've come to the conclusion that the tensioner is the culprit here. Someone on r3v posted a video with the same exact noise and that was his problem

That is what I suspect, but eliminating the belt driven accessories will tell for certain.
