    m20 camshaft advice??

hey im trying to put a mild camshaft on my m20 in my 88 325. im looking to either get a stock cam with bigger profile then mine or get a cheap light cam. im going cheap because eventually i will be doing a s52 swap. but i use my m20 as a daily motor so would like little pep out of it. i was wondering if the e30 m3 cam or the 325e camshafts are bigger and would fit my 325? on honda's the economy cams are bigger for the torque so people can use those on the dx versions and get little more power. was wondering if thats same with e30s?

    nope, it ain't like that.

there are regrinds available, but for the power gained, don't waste your time.

If you have a SETA motor, buy the rest of the stuff to make yours into a 2.7i

On an otherwise stock motor, don't waste your time and money.

          its a seta

get a stock 2.5 camshaft and springs. Its a nice upgrade for a seta.

and don't even try to use a m3 cam haha (its a 16v 4 banger)

forget the cam and just swap the Diff, more bang for the buck!

What do you mean by bigger cam? Are you talking about bigger lift, longer duration?
there are a lot of aspects to a cam choice and it is not a best idea to just start swapping cams without knowing exactly what you are looking for. most cam swaps move your powerband. they do not add huge amounts of power but they are effective for moving the powerband to more desirable higher rpm range. this is great on the track but does not make a lot of difference on the street where you are not trying to rev the engine to 7000 rpms.

im using a 5speed ecu out of an 89 5 series. i did a 5 speed conversion on my 88 325. with this ecu i hit 7000 rpm now. im looking to get different duration. i would like my power band little bit higher then at 3000 to 3500. i would like it to be around 4000 and keep gaining. i will of course get little bit bigger 19lb injectors and brand new walbro fuel pump or customize a e34 in tank fuel pump onto my in tank fuel pump system so i can get more fuel going. so i should get some good amount of power gain with all this.
