    M20 Won't Start

    Check this out;

    I'm on my way to meet the guy I'm buying my s52 from, starts up just fine this morning and we stop once after 15mi I turned the car off and it started back up just fine

    We stop again 30mi later to get gas, I put $30 in and Murphy's law kicks right in and then it wont start

    Turns over just fine like its about to go and just doesn't fire up

    Car has run fine started up 9 times out of 10 for the last 2 months

    Fuel Filter? Fuel Pump?

    Okay so this morning I went out and it fired up first try with some rev on the pedal.

    I'm going to leave it running and do a sea foam treatment, because it feels like its gotta be the fuel system, what thinks you r3v?

        s52 goes in the schwarz car, the bbm has to be my DD!

        Car has started fine twice now with no extra revs, seafoam treatment added to half a tank (hopefully it doesn't clog anything in turn)

        No more 87 for this m20!

        I think I'll still get a new fuel filter and run another sea foam treatment on top of going back to 91 right? (I knew better than that anyways, especially here in California, just having to keep a tight budget)

          Main relay, not a fuel issue.

            Yea? even though it started today just fine?

            Where is the auxiliary relay panel? Bentley is confusing me here

            nevermind I found it, which of the 3 is the main relay the one that sits lower? if so makes sense that ones looking trashed

              That whole "started just fine today" thing is why I say it is main relay.

              The contacts get hot and crap out. Look at page 1360-5 to get a grip on what all the main relay does.

              And yeah, you found it. If you want to do a quick test, jumper 30 to BOTH 87's, the car will likely start/run fine...but won't shut off until you pull the jumper.
