If you have a 153 ecu right now, swapping to a 173, 381 or 525 will work no problem. No Other changes needed, just swap the ecu. -
what about the sensors? like 02 sensors etc etc. will it work properly?Leave a comment:

The 153, 173 and 525 ending ECU's are all swappable. However, the 153 ECU can't run a 173 chip. The 173, 381 and 525 ECU's all can run off of a 173 chip. Or you can use the WAR Chip and put it in ANY pre 1996 ecu:pLeave a comment:

Good to know. My bad. Never had an m20b25, and the b27 isn't worth two shits thinking about.Leave a comment:

173 is said to be the best. You can swap one in with no problems. They go for about $50 shipped on the forum usually.Leave a comment:

I lol'd. Sorry OP, have no clue. Keep searching and hope someone can answer your question.
I'm pretty sure it switched from motronic 1.1 to 1.3 (or something like that) after '87 so I'm not sure if the later DME will work. Since only one year (yours) of the m20b25 was made with earlier motronic it would make sense the 173 is for motronic 1.3 and you'd need to convert. However, this is all theory in my mind and may be (likely is) completely wrong.Leave a comment:
