    some problems

Ok i just picked up a 1989 325i four door. Traded for a rust bucket f100 (score). It in decent shape except for a few things.

    1. Sometimes it wont start up. Cranks like a champ but id say one in every twent starts it wont start. I also smell gas when this happens. I let it sit a lil and it starts. The guy i naught it from said the coil was jacked and it over heats i noticed.

    2. It has a funny idle. Never goes to low but some times spikes up. Im asuming his part of my ignition problem.

    3. Sometimes i here like a swooshing sound. Maybe i vacuum leak?

Let me know what ya think

    Thanks

Intake leaks would be where I'd start.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Check the intake boot and hoses between the mass air and throtle body.
