    Head bolt torque specs (torx)

    6 cyl engine (Torx head)
    Stage 1: 30 Nm (22 lb-ft)
Stage 2: 90 degree torque angle
Stage 3: 90 degree torque angle
Is this right and it's 22lb for all stages
Because I did this last time and It didn't work so now I'm doing it again

22ftlbs is for the first stage only. After that ditch the torque wrench and tighten the bolts 90 degrees each stage. (use a torque ange meter, or make one from an old cd by drawing a 90 degree angle on it)

total torque is 22 ftlbs PLUS 180 degrees (total) of turning.

I hope you know that the bolts are one-time use items and must be replaced each time they are used.

It sounds like this is the second attempt at a head gasket replacement. If head gasket fails it is essential that the head and block be checked for flatness. The block seldom warps, but that possibility exists. The head will warp easily and is the most common cause of gasket failure. If the head is warped it will have to be surfaced.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
